Because, as we all should know, REVIVAL is us wanting more…where we can’t be happy or complacent with what we have at the present. This manna, no matter how tasty and nourishing today, will grow wormy and gross by tomorrow. I need refreshing, refilling. We have been called out of broken slavery to our old life. Our Father has been ever-so-faithful to fulfill all that He said He would in the desert. But let us now enter in. Who, in the fold, could say they don’t want or need MORE? We just can’t pull up short and settle for the near side of the Jordan.
Across the River…there is milk, there is honey—grapes the size of your head! Let us push on; there is so much more. Let us put down our puny ways, our fearful, stationary positions. The humanist maneuvers that dig our heels in and cement our feet into platforms…statues never to move again. Yeah, it might seem like a good idea, to get comfortable and stop moving forward at a good place to camp, except for the fact that statues get crapped on…and can never move again if they want to!
Oh this tyranny of complacency!
We must put one faithful foot in front of the other. It is a Christian WALK, not a Christian STOP. If you are comfortable, be careful lest you be trampled by all the thoroughfare of the world. Just ask Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh. Not such a good idea.
Nope. It was actually safer, SAFER, to go on into miracles…the overcoming of walls, wars and giants in the land. Sweet Elect, let us not be of those who shrink back. Let us go boldly FORWARD, straightway into PROMISE.
Because, if we want to go onward in victory, we cannot stop moving…no matter the obstacle.
