Galatians Chapter 3: Sermon Notes

We are FOOLISH if we think that we can carry on in the flesh a work that only God could have begun through His Spirit. Having begun in the Spirit, could we possibly try to perfect our walk through the works of the flesh?

We must be mindful to remain desperate here. Desperate for God to be our sustainer spiritually. Desperate for Him to remain our provider, monetarily. Desperate for Him to be still the only Wise God who is able to keep us from stumbling. Wanton dependence. Purposeful submission. The bowing of the knee to all that in Almighty about Him.

Without this dependence on Jesus and on the power of His Spirit, pride and self will rule the roost. We will let God know that we have “got it from here.” What a shame, what a terrible shame that many a good, godly man or woman find themselves stranded or marooned far from the centre of the Lord’s will because of these simple mistakes.

Ergo, I purpose, that we are to go out of our ways to seek to throw ourselves into decisions and situations that will deepen the desperation, so to speak. We must launch out continuously in faith to make certain that we are not lulled to sleep by comfort or materialism or the wiles of the world or simply the beckon call of “Good Enough Christianity.” Let us intentionally go just a bit further to insure that it is not us that causes us to stand, but Christ and His atonement and sacrifice…and the Power of His Holy Spirit and Blood.

I am starting to feel more “in the Lord’s will” per say, when things are too big for me, projects too huge, too heavy, and there is not enough resources or money or laborers. “Is it impossible? Yeah, let’s do it. I’m in!”–Bernie Connors.

There is much power in the “Hearing by faith” or believing God. Verses 2,5,6,11,14

“THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” And if you don’t want to, then you are not just. Or justified….

If we can launch out in faith…we stand strong with Christ in the face of all odds. If we stand in procedure and common sense and five-year plans and budgets and our own understanding of situations and circumstances…we have only the power we can muster ourselves. NOT BY POWER, NOR BY MIGHT, BUT BY MY SPIRIT…SAYS THE LORD.

Let it be Him.
