Those that know us, know that the Tribe of Judah is very fond of Oswald Chambers and “My Utmost for His Highest.” Most of us around here, read it every day.
Here’s my favorite quote from today’s reading: “You no more need a holiday from spiritual concentration than your heart needs a holiday from beating.”
Point well made. We who minister the Gospel and before the Throne of God, we don’t get breaks. We don’t call “time-out” and sub somebody else in. As I am writing FLAME: A Field Guide to Revival Lifestyle, I have stumbled upon this point a couple times already–we can’t compartmentalize God. We are all in, all out or lukewarm. And we know what He says about that!
I’m astounded at how we treat worship and our relationships with our Creator. We try to make Him fit our lives, our schedules, our needs, our wants, our eccentricities, and so forth…without even so much as a brief glance over the shoulder to what HE WANTS.
Call me crazy, but I want what He wants.
Because He knows better than I. He is smarter, faster, better, and more experienced in “life-handling.” Did you know that? Do you live accordingly? Not my will, but HIS be done. This is sacrifice, hopefully, a living one. Not some dead, lame, handicapped thing. He wants us all, through and through. Not stuffed in our lives somewhere; he wants to BE our lives ENTIRELY.
This is worship. This is the beginning of wisdom. This is denying ourselves, taking up our crosses and following HIM.
